Postgraduate degree (M.Sc.) in Marine Biology, Cochin University of Science and  Technology., M.Phil in Aquatic Biology and Fisheries and Doctorate in Fish Biology from University of Kerala.

Started aquaculture career as Junior Assistant Professor in the Kerala Agriculture University (KAU) in May, 1979 with integrated aquaculture project in Kumarakom, Kottayam District

Assistant Professor in the brackish Water Research Station at Puduveypu, Kochi where culture of brackish water fishes such as mullets, milk fish (chanos) and  Asian sea bass and marine shrimps  were done.

Post doctoral research on aquaculture from Auburn University, Alabama, USA for the period from September 1985 to August 1987. Also carried out Post Doctoral research on Fish Germplasm Conservation for six months from School of Biological Sciences, Idaho University, Moscow, USA.

Joined the Rice Research Station of KAU in September 1988 and worked on shrimp culture alternating with paddy. Joined the Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, University of Kerala as Reader (Aquaculture) in July 1989 and promoted as Professor (Aquaculture) in July 1995 and continued until 31st March 2013.

Principal Investigator of six research projects on fisheries and aquaculture funded by State Science & Technology, Govt. of Kerala, Department of Fisheries, Government of Kerala,  Indian Council of Agriculture Research, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Ocean Development in addition to Kerala University Projects while working as a Faculty in the Department of Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, University of Kerala.

From September 2013 till December 2019 worked as Professor, Institute of Marine Science & Technology, Amity University, Noida, UP and implemented the project funded by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India on imparting training on ornamental fish culture and aquarium management for livelihood development of rural women .  

An Academician,  Scientist and  Expert in  Aquaculture with more than 40 years of experience in  Fish and Shrimp culture, Shrimp Hatchery Management, Fish Breeding,  Fish Nutrition, Integrated Farming and Ornamental Fish Breeding and Culture. An aquaculture expert with vast experience and knowledge in hatchery production of fresh water fishes such as, Carps, Tilapia,  marine shrimp larvae, commercial farming of marine shrimps, commercial culture of brackish water fishes, fresh water fishes and giant fresh water prawn and ornamental fish breeding and culture.

A pioneer on Integrated Research Project by developing a technology of Integrated farming of fishes and shrimps with paddy, fish cum pig culture and fish cum duck culture  to suit the local topography of the areas in the Districts of Kottyam, Alleppey and Kochin in the State of Kerala, India.

Expertise in Commercial production of Fresh water fishes, Brackish water fishes and Shrimps using Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS) and experience in Aquaponics. Developed breeding and rearing technologies for indigenous and exotic varieties of  ornamental fishes.

Imparted  training  on  ornamental  fish  culture  and  aquarium  management            for livelihood development    to    200    women    belonging    to    the    rural    area of Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala, India.  Proven leadership in managing, developing and motivating teams to achieve targets.

Able to work  on  own  initiative  and  guide  the students, staff and colleagues   as part of a  team. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Dedicated to maintain high quality standards in implementing research projects, academic programs and commercial aquaculture activities. Proficiency to manage symposia, conference, seminars, workshops and training programs. Associated with academic agencies, policy makers, Government bodies and NGOs to carry out aquaculture projects in inland and coastal areas.
